Exeter 2-1 Argyle
Ugh. The result makes awful reading, but that’s only half the story.
Argyle were 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go but, just as they had at Accrington three weeks previously, they succumbed to two late goals.
Argyle were the better team in a largely forgettable first half, but they had to wait until the 57th minute to take the lead. On-loan striker Jamille Matt capitalised on confusion in the Exeter defence and lashed home.
Let’s not talk about what happened next. Suffice to say that Exeter have a pretty good player in 20-year-old Ollie Watkins.
