Crewe 1-2 Argyle
Argyle chalked up a club record seventh away win a row in the league – but they were made to work hard for it.
Backed by a four-figure away following, the Pilgrims did enough to open a seven-point lead at the top of League Two.
Crewe took the lead in the 16th minute when Alex Kiwomya sneaked behind Gary Miller and fired home.
The home side should have gone further ahead shortly before half-time, after the referee awarded a penalty for David Fox’s foul on Jamie Jones. Luke McCormick saved George Cooper’s spot-kick.
There was still time for Cooper to hit the bar and for Argyle’s Craig Tanner to find the net himself before the half-time whistle was blown.
Argyle were better after the break, and their persistence was rewarded in the 74th minute when Graham Carey shot hard and low from a Jake Jervis cross.
